This classic Aston Villa shirt was worn in a season where Villa, like so many other seasons, finished in the top half with the likes of Gareth Southgate, Dwight Yorke and a young Gareth Barry in the squad. Before the season, Stan Collymore was also signed for a sum which at the time was a record for Villa. It is also notable that David Curtolo from Västerås SK was recruited there as a youth professional.
